Cork Spanish Circle was established in 1949 by UCC graduates who wished to continue their interest in Spanish language and culture. Within a few years, in response to demand, they began to provide classes for people who wished to learn Spanish from scratch. Initially classes at two levels were provided but this expanded as interest grew and we now cater for four levels from Beginners to Advanced. While evening classes in Spanish have continued to be the main focus of the Circle the interest in Spanish culture has not been allowed to wane. Accordingly we have 2 or 3 cultural events each year which introduce students to the rich heritage of Spain and the Hispanic world.
The running of the Circle is undertaken by a voluntary committee who endeavour to make the experience of all members a pleasant and rewarding experience.
